After working in the defence and quality sectors, engineering graduate Christelle Taillardat took the reins at the CDTA, Comité Départemental du Tourisme de l’Aube, two years ago.

After completing her ESIGELEC degree (year of 1995), Christelle began her working life as a project engineer in 1995 at Thalès Naval Combat System before joining Alstom as project manager in the railway signalling field where she remained until 2000. An icon for successful women, her position as quality manager in the definition of a naval tactical combat system in South Korea at Thalès Combat System, is also to her credit. “I was then asked to become Director of Engineering and Consulting in the SERLOG group.” This position saw her train project leaders in sectors as wide ranging as railway, defence, nuclear and applied IT until 2007. Following a family decision (her husband decided to take over the heritage management offices in Troyes from his father), Christelle moved to Troyes where she met Francis Bécard who offered her a position as secretary general of the Rétis network made up of 120 innovation support structures in France. “After 3 years, I preferred to leave at the same time as the president. That’s how I took over as head of consulting and training at the ESC Troyes group.” She worked in this role until 2011 and ended up creating an advisory office in entrepreneurship and innovation. When the CDTA (Comité Départemental du Tourisme de l’Aube) was looking for a new director for a business tourism department, Christelle Taillardat decided to take up the challenge and boost promotion in the Aube area.

Kelly Joureau: “At EDF, my professional involvement really means something” (excerpt)

“After my preparatory classes in Guadeloupe, I went to ESIGELEC in Rouen (year of 2005). After my first three years of study I began a Masters specialising in International Management at ESC in Rouen. During my final year I joined the Ecole polytechnique de Montréal in Canada as a research professor.

I did my Masters placement at Alcatel France in Villarceaux and I spent a year exploring the world of Telecommunications. But I was determined to finish my training abroad. I naturally left for Cuba with Alcatel. Again, it was an incredibly enriching year long experience (until the end of 2008).

I joined Eiffage Energie, a major company in the Construction and Public Works sector. As a business manager I was in charge of maintenance for a major mobile telecommunications operator. I managed an all-male team of hardened professionals most of whom were older than me. I learnt a huge amount during this three year experience in the field! The need to build knowledge and change roles made me want to explore new horizons. This was where my journey with the great group that is EDF began…

In 2012 I joined EDF Archipel Guadeloupe in my current position managing the ITT centre (IT, Telecoms, Telephone). A new and exciting experience that enabled me to learn about the company’s IT and phone network and a telecom network focusing on safety features put in place by EDF on its electric lines. I oversee a team of twelve including three interns and one temp. Human resources, environmental quality, cost control and many more skills bases with which we work and are the foundation for local activities from the EDF Group."

Helping companies change how they see disability is the goal of PiDieM.

PiDieM is a company managed by its founder Pascal Denis-Massé. It was founded in 2010 and has 7 employees to provide its clients with advice and support. A former ESIGELEC student (year of 1988), Pascal Denis-Massé began his career as IT project manager before joining human resources. An accident changed his life; he had to stay in bed for two years. This lift experience inspired him: “The idea is to make disability commonplace, give companies the means to change how they see disability and provide better welfare for employees. Everyone can relate to the idea,” says Pascal Denis-Massé. According to statistics, 80% of employees have some form of disability, sometimes it is invisible and some don’t mention it so that they can get their dream job: “Disability isn’t just physical. Diabetes, asthma, rheumatism, migraine, allergy, hypertension and the consequences of accidents are all pathologies which don’t stop employees working but do have an impact of everyday activities. Too often we associate disability with invalidity.” PiDieM advises and supports companies in the long term in a real partnership: “When you can help a company understand the needs of employees, everyone wins.” 6% of staff in companies with more the 20 employees must be disabled in French law. PiDieM wants to go further: “We’re scared to talk about health problems. France is behind, abroad it’s almost 25% in companies,” says the director.

The Rouen-based company works all over the country with a concept that’s unique in France. PiDieM won the special jury prize in Haute-Normandie at the “Talents de la création d’entreprise” competition.
